Northeast Ohio NSBE Professionals Founded in 1990, NEO NSBE Pro is an organization dedicated to the perpetuation and success of African American engineers, technicians, and scientist.

The Northeast Ohio National Society of Black Engineers Professionals is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the perpetuation and success of African American engineers, technicians, scientists and STEM Professionals. NSBE Professionals seek to “inspire the next generation of technical professionals and serve as a catalyst for transforming the culture of engineering.” This goal is achieved by emp

owering the organization’s members to grow technically, academically and professionally, and continue to represent the success of NSBE’s mission. This chapter was founded in 1990 to facilitate advancement and continuing education of technical people; promote excellence in engineering; facilitate social networking; and urge personal and professional development. There is a fee for NEO NSBE Professionals chapter membership. Membership and all donations can be paid via PayPal.me/neonsbepro.

Raheem Beyah, Ph.D., an NSBE Lifetime Member, is now Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Georgia Institute of Technology, overseeing the university’s entire academic enterprise.

Just five years ago, NSBE recognized his continued rise as one of its outstanding academic and technical leaders, following his appointment as the second NSBE lifetimer to serve as dean of Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering—joining Gary S. May, who became the first in 2011.

In a new NSBE News feature, Provost Beyah reflects on his journey, how he arrived at this role, and the work he intends to do moving forward.
