Six weeks ago, I shared the story of five emergency orders we packed in under an hour. What I didn’t share was that there was a sixth brother we didn’t pack for because we didn’t know if he was going to make it. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1FJpqm7XHr/

We’ve fulfilled over 2,000 orders in 20 months at Honey from the Rock, but I HAVE to tell you about this one.

People often tell us how incredible this work is, but these are the things every child and family deserves. Clothes that fit. A safe place to sleep. Someone who listens, connects you to resources, and wants to do life alongside you. This is the bare minimum, and these kids deserve the world. 🗣️

Northeast Ohio, you have a foster care closet. Please share our story and help spread the word. This work matters far beyond the items we give, and it’s going to take all of us to change how foster care is experienced. 💛

Our hearts are FULL. 💛

Last night was such a beautiful reminder of what happens when a community comes together to love foster, kinship, aged out youth, reunified, and adoptive families well. Thank you to everyone who showed up, gave generously, and helped make the Salt + Light Soirée so special.

Tonight was heavy and I’m choosing to sit with it.

It’s not the “recommended time to post on socials” or “the perfectly curated caption.” But I’m laying here processing and I need you to know. To know that when an emergency call came from Metro Triage tonight we were able to answer because of you. My notes were basically chicken scratch. Genders. Ages. Sizes (that we knew because the siblings slipped right into our Gap Pack program in the hospital 🥹). Simple interests they shared so we could customize their bags.

In under an hour all 5 bags were ready because 8 women didn’t hesitate to say yes. Hygiene packs in each one knowing chances are they’ll be separated. The Cavs hat because the teen loves basketball. The yellow items because the siblings said it was their non-verbal brother’s favorite color. So many details in each one.

When those incredible caseworkers pulled up curbside right after the hospital we had cold waters, gift cards so they could take the siblings to go eat, and 5 brand new duffel bags for their next chapter.

We can’t take away what these children experienced tonight. We can’t undo the reason they needed us.

The body keeps score, but my hope and prayer is that maybe one day they’ll also remember that foster care started with people truly seeing them.

We served 24 children today. Over 1800 orders in under 2 years. This is just one story (and a late night ramble from a grateful founder).
