AmeriCorps Ocoee's VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) program works in Bradley County to alleviate poverty through indirect service.

Our goal is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.

Blair Deacon shared tips on Fundraising with our VISTA Cohort on Wednesday. Her experience working as the Director of Resource Development has caused her to understand the importance of sharing data of impact and clients experiences from your organization with donors.

👏Yesterday, four new VISTAs joined the AmeriCorps VISTA Ocoee Program👏

Welcome these new volunteers: Bryce, serving at YouthForce; Noah, serving at Habitat ReStore; Delaina, serving at Bradley Prevention Coalition; Kourtlenn, serving at Free2Fly.

We are so excited to see the work they will contribute at these sites over the next year!

Last Wednesday, Brandon Gaines with City Fields came to share strategies on Student Loans Repayment with our VISTA Cohort. Thank you for coming Brandon and equipping our VISTA Volunteers with helpful information on how to use their Segal Education Awards when they finish their service terms.

Welcome Paisley, Riley, Rita, and Ashley to the AmeriCorps Ocoee VISTA Team!

Ashley will be serving at Cleveland Bradley Public Library. Paisley will be serving at CASA of Bradley and Polk Counties. Riley will be serving at the Denning Center. Rita will be serving at Karis Community Health.

We are excited for each of these individuals and the work they will do at their service sites this year!👏👏👏

Today, we highlight our VISTA Volunteers and Site Supervisors. The 11 VISTA Volunteers in our Ocoee Region program are serving at 10 different non-profit organizations. These organizations, through the capacity building of VISTA Volunteers, are able to serve thousands of Tennesseans in Bradley and Polk Counties each year!

For our March VISTA Meeting, Cohort members brought their resumes for peer-review. In Speed Dating fashion, each VISTA had their resume critiqued by 5 others during 6 minute rotations.

During each rotation, our VISTAs considered if the resume in front of them was professional, up to date, relevant, and had consistent formatting. This experience allowed each of our VISTAs to walk away with revisions to their resume, which will enhance their future professional endeavors!
