We are thrilled to share that Xiomara Hernandez Marcelo, Adult Learners Program Coordinator at Esperanza, has been nominated for the 2026 Extraordinary Latinas Awards from United Latinas Inc in the Empowering Excellence category!

Xiomara is an integral part of our Adult Learners team, where her passion for education and service shines through in the support she provides to our learners. She is committed to helping others recognize their strengths, build confidence, discover new opportunities, and take meaningful steps toward achieving their goals.

That commitment makes the Empowering Excellence recognition especially fitting. Xiomara leads with the belief that knowledge and opportunity become even more powerful when they are shared, and that empowering others to succeed strengthens our entire community.

🎉 We are incredibly proud to celebrate Sonia Matis, Adult Learners Program Coordinator at Esperanza, on her nomination for the 2026 Extraordinary Latinas Awards from United Latinas Inc in the Connecting Community category!

For decades, Sonia has dedicated herself to serving and uplifting our community, building relationships and helping individuals and families feel welcomed, supported, and connected to the resources they need.

As an integral member of the Esperanza team and our Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) Access Center, Sonia is often one of the very first people community members meet when they walk through our doors. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine commitment to helping others make that first encounter a wonderful reflection of what Esperanza is all about.

The Connecting Community category recognizes leaders who build bridges, foster collaboration, and create spaces of belonging and empowerment, qualities Sonia demonstrates every day through her service.
