United States Boomerang Association The USBA is a 100% volunteer organization charged with promoting the sport, science, and art of boomerangs in the United States and worldwide.

While the boomerang has existed for at least 15,000 years in Australia, boomerangs as an organized sport began in the 1960s in Australia and the United States. In the United States, the boomerang movement was triggered in part by a milestone article on boomerangs in a 1968 Scientific American, and nurtured by the Smithsonian Institute which sponsored yearly educational workshops in the making and throwing of boomerangs. The United States Boomerang Association (USBA) was formed in 1980. Now the sport is practiced worldwide, with team and individual world championships held every two years. Based upon boomerang sales estimates by the many cottage industry manufacturers, there are now hundreds of thousands of recreational boomerang throwers across the US and the numbers escalate annually. These people are competitive athletes, recreational throwers, master woodcarvers, casual woodworkers, aeronautical engineers, high school science teachers, artists, anthropologists, and every other walk of life. The USBA brings them all together into a society that offers a forum for discussion, a vast information resource, and news of the boomerang world.

Tournament update, Saturday schedule. The storm is breaking! We think anyway.

Field is open for general warm-ups at 1 PM. Please bring your Aussie round and accuracy boomerangs.

Aussie round will begin at 2 PM. If we finish Aussie round by 4:30 we will roll into Accuracy.

All events are still subject to on-field weather conditions.

Friday's Long Distance competition at the USBA National Championships in Conyers, GA is in the books. Light winds made for challenging conditions, and 15 throwers took on the field.

For everyone coming to the Nationals in Georgia this weekend. Tournament director Jason has called that we will delay the start of event tomorrow until at least noon due to the storm system coming in.

Current plan is we will aim to have on field warmups start at 1pm, and Aussie round start at 2pm. Because this is when the high wind and rain is currently forecast to ease.
This is subject to change of course. Please reach out with any questions.

All other events will be contested starting at 8am Sunday. Be on field at 7:30 to warm up!

Hi everyone!

Nationals are right around the corner. Less than a week away: 9-11 October in Conyers, GA. And we have a tournament shirt!

If you are thinking about coming, or are interested in getting one of the tournament shirts, or are intending to submit an entry to the Craftsmanship Competition, please use the following link to register for Nationals. No money due now. Just trying to get headcounts for planning purposes (e.g., t-shirts, dinner reservations, scoresheet planning).

The T-Shirt order will be submitted first thing Monday (5 October) morning. So please get your registration in before then to ensure you get a shirt.

The plan is for a tri-blend (soft and breathable) black shirt with full size three-color design on the back and a front left chest print in single color. It’s looking like the each cost is going to be around $20.

The Registration form is set up for people to order a shirt even if they are not planning to participate or even attend. Just submit your shirt size and then decline interest in the throwing events. If you don’t pick up your shirt at the tournament, we’ll work with you figure out shipping.
