There are a lot of resources that are being under-utilized, if utilized at all in inner-city communities. Simply because there isn't enough programs designed to utilize the available resources in these communities. The lack of programs and program stability is due in part to an inability to organize around the issues these resources are set aside to address. Often resulting in a disparity between
well organized communities and poorly organized communities (i.e. The Emergence Initiative would like to create more opportunities for citizens to get involved in the enrichment of their community. Initially, by collaborating with existing organizations that target the issues that concern these communities. This insures that the resources these organizations have accessed, will effectively reach the communities they've been allocated to impact. Ultimately, we will need to build new programs that reflect a unique and innovative understanding of the inner-city dynamics in the targeted community.
