National HIV Testing Day 2026

Healthcare Access Worldwide (HAWI) successfully hosted two National HIV Testing Day events this year. Our primary annual event was held at the Walgreens location in the Lee-Harvard community, with an additional outreach event at the St. Teresa Community Awareness Fair.

This year, we highlighted two FDA-approved HIV self-testing options, giving individuals more choices for learning their HIV status in a way that fits their needs:

🔹 OraQuick HIV Self-Test (OraSure Technologies) – A simple, pain-free oral swab test that can be completed at home. No blood or needles are required, and results are available in about 20 minutes. When used correctly, the test is over 90% accurate.

🔹 INSTI HIV Self Test (bioLytical Laboratories) – A rapid at-home test that uses a single drop of fingerstick blood to detect HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies. Known as one of the fastest HIV self-tests available, it provides results in approximately 60 seconds and is 99% accurate.

Having access to multiple testing options empowers individuals to choose the method that works best for them. Whether through community-based testing or self-testing at home, knowing your HIV status remains an important step in protecting your health and connecting to care when needed.

Juneteenth is a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and make plans for a brighter future—for ourselves, our families, and our communities.

It is a reminder of the strength, resilience, and determination that carried generations forward and continues to inspire us today. As we honor the sacrifices of those who came before us, we are called to invest in one another, uplift one another, and build opportunities for those who will come after us.

When no one else is there, we must be a solid rock for each other—offering support, encouragement, and hope. Together, we create stronger families, stronger communities, and a stronger future.
