Get to know our staff! This week's feature, our Winter 2026 Concert Band Conductor: John M. Pasternak!

John M. Pasternak is an American composer, conductor, and educator whose music is widely performed worldwide. A graduate of Kent State University (B.M.E.) and the American College of Education (M.Ed. in Educational Technology), John’s work is characterized by its melodic lyricism and educational depth.

With over a decade of classroom experience, his compositions for concert band and string orchestra are published by industry leaders, including C.L. Barnhouse Company, Neil A. Kjos Music Company, Excelcia, RWS, Carl Fischer, and Wingert-Jones. Beyond the podium, John is a celebrated film composer, notably scoring the Coaster Studios documentary This is How We Roll. An active member of ASCAP and OMEA, he remains in high demand as a guest conductor and clinician, dedicated to inspiring the next generation of musicians through expressive performance and creative collaboration.
