On her worst night, after being auctioned off to nearly two dozen men in a dingy, dirty, inner city Detroit motel, Ms. With
that in mind, she created S.O.A.P.- Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution, to help reach out to other victims. A much sought after international speaker and expert on domestic s*x trafficking, Ms. Flores was also appointed to the Ohio Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Commission in 2009. She has testified before the Ohio House and Senate in support of human trafficking legislation. Over the pass few years, she has sat next to 3 Governors in two states to sign bills into law. Including the Theresa Flores Act in Michigan, which eliminates the statue of limitations for any trafficking victim less than 18 years of age. Theresa’s book,” The Slave Across the Street”, has made the Wall Street Journals and USA Today’s Best Selling list. The E-book is listed as a #1 favorite in the categories of women’s studies, child advocacy, family law and political science. The audio version of the book was nominated in 2011 for the Audie Award for being in the top 5 of all memoirs. In 2013, Random House released a special version of her book in the UK, Singapore, Australia and Lebanon. She has been a licensed social work for over 25 years and received her masters in counseling education from the University of Dayton and a bachelor’s of social work from Ball State University. Flores has also received numerous awards including the Soroptimst Ruby Award and the Courage Award from Ohio Governor Kasich. As well as appeared on the Today Show, Glenn Beck’s The Blaze, 700 Club, America’s Most Wanted, Nightline and many more.
