Last week, racist comments were posted in response to content highlighting one of our neighborhood businesses. The staff and Board of the Jefferson-Puritas West Park CDC were deeply disturbed by these remarks. West Park is among the most diverse communities in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County, and we are honored to serve all residents and businesses in the Jefferson and Bellaire-Puritas neighborhoods. The comments were removed from our page. Racist, derogatory, or hurtful language directed toward any member of our community will not be tolerated. Individuals who engage in such conduct will have their comments deleted and will be removed and blocked from our page and reported to Meta/Facebook for hate speech. We appreciate your continued engagement with our content as we highlight our community and share the positive developments taking place throughout the Jefferson and Bellaire-Puritas neighborhoods.

West Park is known for its cultural diversity, and this diversity is heavily reflected in our restaurant and grocery options. Our neighborhood loves to eat and enjoy good food from all over the world. One establishment, Arabian Village Market, located at 12926 Lorain Avenue, has proudly called West Park home for the past 15 years.

After 15 years in the neighborhood, Arabian Village Market, with the help of Cleveland Neighborhood Progress and your own Jefferson-Puritas West Park CDC, has brought its storefront into the 21st century with a fresh, new look. Arabian Village Market might look new, but they are still serving up those delicious recipes that everyone enjoys.

When we asked Chef Ahlam Malkieh what brings everyone to Arabian Village Market, she was quick to answer, “My recipes!” She went on to elaborate, “People come from all over for my food.”

But there was one last question we had to ask: “What do you like about being established in the West Park neighborhood?” Without hesitation, Alham responded with a smile, “It’s the people of West Park; they are good to us.”

Be sure to stop by and enjoy some of Chef Malkieh’s delicious food!
