A heartfelt thank you to the students and faculty from Hawken Upper School for spending the day with us at Cleveland Sews and Cosmic Bobbins! 🧵

This wasn’t just a sewing class—it was a lesson in adulting. Students learned how to safely operate sewing machines, press and iron fabric, troubleshoot mistakes, follow a project from start to finish, and build confidence through hands-on problem-solving. Along the way, we explored how these practical life skills connect to sustainability, creativity, and self-sufficiency.

In a world of fast fashion and disposable products, learning how to make, mend, and care for textiles is more than a craft—it’s a way of understanding the value of our resources and the impact of our choices. Every stitch teaches patience, persistence, and the satisfaction of creating something with your own two hands. These are skills that extend far beyond the classroom and into everyday life.

🎶 HOT PANTS! 🔥😂❤️🧵🪡

Module 6 had us feelin’ like James Brown in the sewing studio tonight. ☺️ Our Sewing Fundamentals crew is officially stepping into their last module of garment construction as we stitch up our very own lounge pants!

From reading commercial patterns to cutting fabric, matching seams, and learning how a garment actually comes together piece by piece…this is the moment where it all starts to CLICK. 👖✂️✨

And let’s just say…these pants are coming in HOT. 🔥

There’s something powerful about making clothes with your own two hands—especially surrounded by a room full of creative humans cheering each other on stitch by stitch. Sewing isn’t just a skill here…it’s community, confidence, and a little bit of soul. 🤎

🧵✨ Sunday Service is crossing the finish line…🏁

Module 6 is here, and our Sewing Fundamentals students are stepping into garment making with the first muslin of their lounge pants!

Over the past weeks, our students have gone from first stitches to building real sewing confidence—and now we’re bringing everything together through commercial patterns, fit, construction, and wearable garments made by their own hands. 👖✂️

Today, we sew the mock-up, test the fit, make our adjustments, and prepare for the final garment. Because at Cleveland Sews, we believe sewing is living knowledge—and every stitch carries us closer to creative self-sufficiency. ☺️

Thursday nights at Cleveland Sews are officially in their ✨Module 5 era✨

This week, our evening cohort is stepping into the world of commercial patterns—learning how to read them, understand construction language, and begin translating flat paper into wearable possibilities. 🧵📐✨

What started with first stitches and simple seams has now evolved into students building real garment-making confidence one skill at a time. And honestly? Watching those lightbulb moments happen around the classroom never gets old. 🤯💡😆😄

At Cleveland Sews, EVERYTHING in our curriculum is intentional. We slowly move from the kiddie pool into deeper waters, building technical skills, craftsmanship, and creative confidence along the way. By Module 5, students are beginning to understand not just how to sew—but how garments actually come together. 💫

Sewing is living knowledge. And Thursday night’s cohort is stitching their way deeper into the craft. ❤️
