Thank you for your invaluable commitment to our community. Your time and efforts in addressing safety concerns are critical as we work together to support Ward 3.
As you know, Ward 3 has recently experienced a series of car break-ins, affecting both residents and guests of local businesses, particularly in Ohio City and surrounding neighborhoods. I want to provide a quick update on the steps being taken.
Second District Commander Maffo-Judd informed us that arrests were made on the night of October 26th as part of ongoing efforts to address this behavior. This sends a clear message: unsafe or illegal behavior will not be tolerated and will be met with decisive consequences. This work is essential to ensuring accountability for those who disrupt the safety of our neighborhoods.
With this, we invite you to join us to continue this essential conversation at the Ward 3 All-Hands Safety Meeting:
Date: Wednesday, November 5
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Urban Community School's Conway Gathering Space
Sign-up link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ward-3-all-hands-safety-meeting-with-councilwoman-lauren-r-welch-tickets-1901764772629
I will be joined by Commander Maffo-Judd and invited representatives from Juvenile Court and the County Prosecutor's Office to discuss current initiatives, share updates, and hear directly from you. I'll share this widely first thing tomorrow morning, but for now, please feel free to RSVP and share this email with anyone you think would be interested in attending.
Thank you to Ohio City Inc., District 2 Cleveland Division of Police, Tremont West, Flats Forward, and the City of Cleveland for helping facilitate this important discussion.
Sincerely,
Councilwoman Lauren R. Welch
