Greater Cleveland Congregations

Greater Cleveland Congregations We believe people working together have the power to change Greater Cleveland for the better.

Greater Cleveland Congregations (GCC) is a non-partisan coalition of faith communities and partner organizations in Cuyahoga County working together to build power for social justice. GCC unites people across lines of race, class, religion, and geography to promote public, private and civic sector actions which strengthen and improve the quality of life of our neighborhoods. We will challenge Clev

elanders to imagine the change we can accomplish, connect individuals and organizations to multiply our power, and mobilize our members by the thousands to make our voices heard. We will set audacious goals, create savvy strategies—and, if necessary, take on the powerful interests that stand in the way. Drawing on the proven power of person-to-person organizing, we will build the power necessary to create a Greater Cleveland.

GCC has been focusing on the issue of Youth Bindover for years.

Why? More young people in Cuyahoga County are bound over to adult court than in the other 4 largest Ohio counties combined. These teens - disproportionately Brown and Black - face consequences that can last a lifetime. Kids are not adults, and our justice system shouldn’t treat them as such.

Our 2026 Youth Bindover Report reveals what’s happening—and what must change.

A different path is possible. One rooted in fairness, accountability, and opportunity.

On Saturday, April 11, 24 of our brightest next-generation leaders gathered with GCC leadership and trainers for our first-ever Youth Change Maker Studio.

Together, they connected, collaborated, and created—sharing powerful perspectives on the environment, cost of living, and elections. Working in teams, participants produced original drawings, graphics, plays, and songs that brought their ideas to life.

Our youth have meaningful and thoughtful insights to share—and it’s time we listen.

A new study will examine Cuyahoga County’s crisis services network—but our community already knows what’s needed.

We’ve heard it in listening sessions. We’ve seen it in our neighborhoods. People need access to care now—not later.

The question isn’t whether change is needed. It’s whether we act.

Tomorrow is a critical moment for our community.

The Crisis Receiving Center—already under construction and designed to provide compassionate, accessible care for individuals and families facing mental health or substance use crises—is now at risk due to funding uncertainty.

We cannot afford to lose this vital resource.

Join us at Shiloh Baptist tomorrow between 4:00 and 7:00 PM for one of two open house sessions. Hear directly from leadership about what’s at stake, the funding challenge, and what it will take to secure full support.

Your voice matters. Your presence matters.

Thank you for standing with us in 2025. Thanks to your support, Greater Cleveland Congregations has made meaningful progress across our community.

We built relationships with new judicial candidates through our October forum, securing commitments to advance pre-trial justice.

We filed an amicus brief on behalf of a young person to challenge a bindover decision, and the Supreme Court agreed to hear the case.

We took our Voter Virginity campaign national, expanding youth voter engagement into three additional states.

And we earned statewide attention for our Healthy Blocks Initiative, generating interest from health insurance partners in investing in a community-led health equity model.

Thank you for believing in the power of collective action.

Together, we are sustaining hope, strengthening democracy, and building a future rooted in justice and inclusion.
