Nearly 100 Voices. Two Days. One Powerful Beginning.

FABRIC, Incorporated just completed the first in-person data collection experience for The Listening Project at the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. State Meeting in Greenwood, Mississippi, and the experience exceeded our expectations.

Over the course of two days, nearly 100 men completed our statewide listening survey and, just as importantly, many stopped to talk.

Our Board President, LaTasha Rice, and CEO, L. Nicole Stringfellow, managed the listening table and had the opportunity to engage directly with participants. The men shared their experiences, perspectives, concerns, ideas, and wisdom about wellbeing and what they believe is needed to create meaningful spaces and opportunities for men.

We went to Greenwood to gather information.
We left having learned.

Those conversations reminded us why this work must begin with listening. The survey findings and voices gathered across Mississippi will help FABRIC develop a strategic plan for a future men’s initiative grounded in what men tell us they actually need, value, and would participate in.

We also celebrated several grand-prize winners throughout the meeting!

This was only the beginning.

Our goal is to hear from 500+ men across Mississippi, representing different generations, communities, backgrounds, and life experiences.

We’re not building a program. We’re building it with the voices of men across Mississippi.

To every man who stopped, talked, reflected, laughed, challenged our thinking, and shared his voice: thank you. We heard you.

We imagined it. We built it. And yesterday, the Delta experienced it. 💜

Duafe: A Taste of Being was everything we hoped a community wellbeing experience could be: welcoming, engaging, peaceful, educational, interactive, and filled with connection.

Throughout the experience, participants moved through The Balance Studio, The Nourish Kitchen, Prosperity Place, The Power of My Voice, The Reflection Lounge, and The Sound Sanctuary, discovering different ways to think about and practice wellbeing in everyday life.

But beautiful spaces do not create themselves.

💜 To our Experience Leaders, thank you for taking the vision and making each destination your own.

💚 To our volunteers, thank you for welcoming, guiding, assisting, moving, organizing, and helping the entire experience flow with care.

🌿 And to every person who walked through the doors, picked up a wellbeing passport, tried something new, asked a question, paused, reflected, moved, listened, learned, or simply allowed yourself a moment to BE: thank you.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the B.B. King Museum & Delta Interpretive Center for partnering with FABRIC, Incorporated and providing such a meaningful setting for this community experience.

And we are deeply grateful to the Gilead Foundation for the funding that helped make Duafe: A Taste of Being possible and accessible to our community at no cost.

This was wellbeing experienced, not simply discussed.
