Surrounded by more than 500 acres in the picturesque North Georgia mountains, Camp Barney Medintz campers experience the magic of summer camp and the joy of making lifelong friends while challenging themselves with new activities and gaining self-confidence and independence that will benefit them for a lifetime. Along the way, each and every day, they develop and solidify their connection to their Jewish identity.

🐾 Camp Barney PUPDATE! 🐾

It’s been a couple of months since Louie, Issie, and Chippie traded their summer at Camp Barney Medintz for life with their forever families—and they’re doing great! 💙

🐶 Louie has settled right in! He goes to the office every day, where he happily cuddles with clients, and stays busy with walks, baseball games, lake weekends, pool swims, and plenty of toys. He especially loves seeing familiar CBM faces around town!

🐶 Issie is loving life with her family and her new dog brother, Teddy. She’s sleeping through the night, making lots of four-legged friends, and even recently dressed as Jessie from Toy Story for a school newspaper project!

🐶 Chippie has grown a ton and is keeping his family entertained with boat rides, games of keep-away with stolen socks, chasing his tail, and plenty of puppy shenanigans and snuggles. His family sums him up best: “He’s a muppet.”

We love seeing our CBM pups so happy and loved in their forever homes!

Working at Camp Barney is more than a summer job. It’s a chance to make an impact, grow as a leader, build real-world skills, and be part of a community unlike any other.

Our staff set the tone for camp—encouraging campers to try new things, take on challenges, build confidence, and be themselves. And along the way, staff grow too, gaining leadership, teamwork, problem-solving skills, friendships, and experiences that last far beyond the summer.

From counselors and specialty roles to office and health center staff, interns, and program leadership, there are opportunities for all kinds of interests and experience levels.

Camp Barney Medintz is even better with friends! Refer a family that’s new to Camp Barney and the MJCCA, and when they register for Summer 2027, you both receive a tuition credit!

You can earn $200–$300 per referral, and there’s no limit to how many families you can refer. Just have the new family list your name as their referral when they complete their camper application. Referrals are accepted through March 31, 2027.
