The ECCC welcomed guests from the The Matsush*ta Institute of Government and Management in Japan. Four graduate students from MIGM found the ECCC's website during their research and wanted to learn about our innovative strategy to connect local businesses to talented job seekers with disabilities and barriers to employment.

During their trip we were able to take them to the Cleveland Guardians to showcase a model employer for disability inclusion and accessibility. Thank you to our guests for coming to visit us and The Cleveland Guardians for their hospitality.

This week's is Katie at Giant Eagle in Beachwood. Katie has been there since June 2025, working as a cashier. During her time at this location, she has received numerous “Extra Mile” recognition slips, noting her dedication to her job. Customers have noted that Katie is always pleasant in conversation, is friendly, and genuinely cares about those coming through her line. Katie loves that she is recognized for her hard work and getting to work for a supportive team!

This week’s celebrates Sofia’s success at Five Below in Macedonia. Sofia applied for a seasonal position hoping to get some experience at her first job. Her team immediately enjoyed her friendly customer service, efficient work-style and attention to detail from the beginning. Sofia’s strong communication and focus on teamwork were a true asset to the staff during their busiest season of the year. Her supervisors selected her as the Wow Crew Member of the Month and would love to see her continue to build skills. Sofia’s training and job development at Cuyahoga Valley Career Center set her up for success; she’s ready for what the future holds for her career development. Congrats on a terrific start, Sofia!

This week's photo is of Jennifer at Discount Drug Mart in North Olmsted. After years of building skills through a program at Oatey, she found and applied to Discount Drug Mart in August of 2022.

Jennifer has been there for over three years now, working with customers to find what they need and keeping the shelves stocked for everyone. Her favorite part of the job is interacting with customers and her coworkers. She told us, "I like working for Drug Mart and learning new things."

Keep up the great work!

This week's is Keith at Fresh Thyme Market in Mayfield Heights. He began his position as a grocery clerk in December of 2024 and has been thriving! He was even awarded Employee of the Month in February 2025.

Keith has enjoyed his time with his coworkers and customers at Fresh Thyme. Keith is appreciative of the support he received from Adam Walls at LEAP Cleveland and Mariana Riley from the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities. We are so proud of you, Keith, and keep up the excellent work!

This week's is Michael. Michael has been employed at JACK Thistledown Racino since March of 2025. He enjoys going to work, is always on time, and never misses a day of work. His boss thinks very highly of him and wishes he had more employees like Michael.

Michael is responsible for vacuuming, sweeping, emptying/picking up trash, replenishing supplies, transporting trash, dusting, mopping, providing information and directions to inquiring guests. Michael would like to continue to grow and eventually move into another role at JACK Thistledown Racino in the future.

When he is not working, Michael enjoys attending concerts, spending time with his family, watching YouTube, playing video games, traveling, and watching WWE Wrestling events.
