Today is purple heart Day. We thank all those who wear the medal that demonstrates that they were willing to shed their blood for our country. Today VFW posts 1662 in Amherst installed this parking spot to honor those that wear that medal.

The Ohio Department of Veterans Services is hosting multiple online OhioMHAS Peer Recovery Supporter (PRS) trainings for veterans in 2025. PRS training teaches individuals in recovery from a mental health and/or substance use issue to use their experience to help their peers in recovery. Upon successful completion of this training, individuals are eligible to apply for certification as a Peer Recovery Supporter in the State of Ohio.

Date options for this 10-day online training follow:

Daytime Trainings
July 28 - Aug. 1 and Aug. 4-8; Dec. 1-5 and 8-12

Evening Trainings
Sept. 29-Oct. 3 and Oct. 6-10
