Save Our Families is currently seeking new members for our Board of Directors for the 2026–2028 term.

As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking thoughtful leaders passionate about strengthening families and advancing community-centered solutions.

Board members help guide strategy, support sustainability, and serve as ambassadors for our mission.

We are especially interested in individuals with lived experience with substance use, experience in public health, behavioral health, finance, law, communications, philanthropy, technology, and community leadership.

If you are interested in learning more about board service or would like to recommend someone, we would love to hear from you.

A huge thank you to our Save Our Families team for showing up with love, care, and purpose at Pride in the CLE.

Outreach is more than setting up a table. It is building trust, sharing resources, making people feel seen, and reminding our community that support should never come with judgment.

We are grateful for everyone who helped make this day possible. Pride is community care, and our team represented that beautifully.

According to a January 2026 public alert from the Center for Forensic Science Research and Education, Cychlorphine has been detected in fatal overdose cases and has appeared both by itself and mixed with other substances, including fentanyl, xylazine, benzodiazepines, stimulants, nitazenes, and other synthetic opioids.

Carry naloxone.
Call 911 during a suspected overdose.

June 6 is Naloxone Awareness Day.

Naloxone is a medicine, but what it represents is much bigger: another breath, another chance, another moment for someone to make it home.
Naloxone can reverse an opioid overdose and restore breathing long enough for emergency help to arrive. The CDC notes that naloxone can restore normal breathing within 2 to 3 minutes, and more than one dose may be needed when stronger opioids like fentanyl are involved.

You do not need to be a medical professional to carry it.

At Save Our Families, we believe lifesaving tools belong in the hands of the people closest to the crisis: families, friends, outreach workers, neighbors, barbers, aunties, coaches, faith leaders, and anyone willing to act when someone’s life is on the line.

Carry naloxone because you love your community.
Learn how to use it.
Talk to your people about it.

Free Naloxone is available through Save Our Families.

We make room for love that does not ask permission.

Room for people still healing.
Room for people still becoming.
Room for people who were told they were too much, too different, too complicated, too loud, too soft, too hard to love.

Pride Month is a reminder that LGBTQIA2S+ communities have always created life in the margins. Art. language. shelter. chosen family. mutual aid. culture. survival strategies. joy that refused to die.

That history deserves more than a rainbow graphic. It deserves policy, protection, funding, care, and spaces where people can receive support without being judged, criminalized, erased, or reduced to a statistic.

Save Our Families is proud to stand with LGBTQIA2S+ neighbors across Cleveland.

On National Fentanyl Awareness Day, we pause to honor every family, friend group, neighborhood, and community that has been forever changed by overdose.

We honor the people we have lost. We hold space for the people still grieving. We stand with the people still fighting to survive, and we recommit ourselves to saving lives with compassion, dignity, accurate information, and practical tools.

At a time when overdose deaths are beginning to decline nationally, we should be expanding what works, not cutting it. The recent federal funding cuts that will eliminate support for fentanyl test strips are a dangerous step backward. Test strips are not a luxury. They are a prevention tool. They give people information. They create opportunities for safer choices. They open the door to conversations, c***ection, and support.

Communities deserve access to the tools that help people stay alive, including naloxone, fentanyl test strips, safer use education, disease prevention supplies, and trusted community-based support. Taking those tools away does not stop drug use. It increases risk, deepens harm, and leaves families with fewer options.

At Save Our Families, we believe prevention must be practical, compassionate, and close to the people most impacted. We will continue showing up for families, individuals, and communities affected by substance use because every life is worth protecting.

A decline in deaths is not permission to slow down. It is proof that prevention works, and a reminder that the work must continue.

New data shows a significant decline in overdose deaths in Cuyahoga County.
But the crisis hasn’t ended; it’s changing.

This editorial explores:
• What’s driving the decline
• The role of harm reduction
• Where continued investment is critical

Because progress is not permanent without sustained support.
