Each year, the Lake Erie Council honors exceptional Scouters who go above and beyond in service to our youth, our units, and our communities. These awards recognize the dedication, leadership, and impact that make Scouting thrive and we need your help to identify those deserving individuals!

Now is the time to submit nominations for the following council awards (all due by December 15):
⚜️ Silver Beaver Award – The highest honor a council can bestow, recognizing adult leaders who have demonstrated exceptional service and leadership to youth at the council level.
⚜️ Distinguished Award of Merit – Honors registered adult leaders who have made a significant impact through outstanding service at the division level.
⚜️ Unit Scouter Award – Celebrates Scouters who have made a distinguished impact on youth through service at the unit level (packs, troops, crews, or ships).
⚜️ Venturing Leadership Award – Recognizes Venturers and Advisors for outstanding leadership and dedication to the Venturing program.
⚜️ Council Duty to God Award – Honors Scouters who have shown exemplary commitment to faith and the spiritual foundation of Scouting.
⚜️ The Torch of Gold – The Torch of Gold is a council-level distinguished award to recognize adults for exceptional service and leadership working with Scouts who have disabilities.
⚜️ Whitney M. Young – Recognizes outstanding service by an adult or an organization for demonstrated involvement in the development and implementation of Scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income urban backgrounds.
⚜️ William H. Spurgeon Award – Is the highest recognition for individuals and organizations contributing significant leadership to the Exploring Program.

Each of these awards highlights the heart of what makes Scouting special volunteers who quietly and selflessly make a lasting difference in the lives of youth.

Please take a moment to reflect on those Scouters in your unit, district, or council who exemplify these qualities and submit a nomination here: https://lecscouting.org/council-awards

There is just something about the fall season in Scouting. The air gets cooler. Campfires become a little more inviting. Leaves start changing. Flannel shirts come out of storage. And somewhere, someone is probably planning a fall festival complete with pumpkins, c***r, games, and a hayride through camp. These are the kinds of activities that create the stories Scouts remember.

But every year, it is worth taking a few minutes to look at those traditions through the lens of the Guide to Safe Scouting. The goal is to make sure the fun we plan today becomes a great memory tomorrow.
