Life Bridges is grateful to announce that we recently received a grant from Volunteer Energy Cooperative's (VEC) Customers Share Program to help support Camp Cherokee 2026!

This generous funding is made possible through the kindness of VEC members who choose to round up their monthly electric bill to the nearest dollar, with those contributions supporting local organizations throughout our community.

First Baptist Church Camp Cherokee provides individuals supported by Life Bridges with opportunities for recreation, friendship, personal growth, and unforgettable summer memories. We sincerely appreciate Volunteer Energy Cooperative and its members for investing in the lives of those we serve.

Thank you, VEC Customers Share Program, for helping make Camp Cherokee 2026 possible!

Life Bridges Earns Prestigious Employment First Accreditation

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Life Bridges, Inc. is proud to announce that it has earned Employment First Accreditation through SHIFT, a nationally recognized education and accreditation platform dedicated to advancing Employment First and Technology First best practices.

Employment First Accreditation recognizes organizations that are committed to creating a culture where employment in the general workforce is the first and preferred option for individuals receiving long-term support services. The accreditation process is rigorous and highly collaborative, guiding organizations through the implementation of proven standards and best practices that support individuals in achieving meaningful, competitive employment outcomes.

"This accreditation reflects Life Bridges' longstanding commitment to helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve greater independence, inclusion, and success in their communities," said Diana Jackson, CEO of Life Bridges. "Employment is more than a job—it provides purpose, connection, confidence, and opportunity. We are honored to receive this recognition and remain committed to ensuring the people we support have every opportunity to pursue meaningful employment and reach their fullest potential."

SHIFT's philosophy emphasizes that successful Employment First implementation requires engagement and commitment from every level of an organization. Its curriculum integrates enabling technology and innovative employment practices that increase individual choice, promote independence, and reduce reliance on others in the workplace.

For more than 50 years, Life Bridges has served individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through person-centered supports, healthcare services, therapeutic programs, employment services, and community-based opportunities. The organization remains dedicated to promoting dignity, independence, and inclusion while empowering individuals to live the lives they envision for themselves.

"With a person-centered approach to technology and employment solutions, we are all working toward the same goal—to empower people using long-term support services to live the lives they want to live," according to SHIFT. Through the accreditation process, SHIFT partners with organizations to provide guidance, resources, and sustainable strategies that lead to organizational transformation and improved outcomes for the people they support.

Congratulations to Kelsey Nickels on Her Promotion to Director of Quality Supports!

Life Bridges is pleased to announce the promotion of Kelsey Nickels to Director of Quality Supports.

Kelsey began her career in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field in 2013 through the Best Buddies program at Lee University, where she partnered with students from Trousdale School. In 2014, while attending Lee University, she joined Life Bridges as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), beginning a journey of service and leadership that has spanned more than a decade.

After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2015, Kelsey accepted a full-time position as Program Manager in the Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) department. Throughout her career at Life Bridges, she has served in several key roles, including Case Manager and Reportable Events Management Coordinator. In these positions, she played an instrumental role in strengthening quality supports and helping develop and expand the agency's Enabling Technology services.

In 2026, Kelsey was promoted to Director of Quality Supports, where she oversees reportable events, protection from harm initiatives, and Enabling Technology supports. She also provides leadership and guidance to the agency's Quality Specialists and the MAPs Program, helping ensure the highest standards of care, safety, and support for the individuals served by Life Bridges.

Kelsey's dedication, expertise, and commitment to improving the lives of others have made a lasting impact on our organization. Her growth from DSP to Director is a testament to her passion for service and her unwavering commitment to the mission of Life Bridges.

Outside of her professional accomplishments, Kelsey has been happily married to her husband since 2019. Together, they are raising their son, Samson.

Please join us in congratulating Kelsey on this well-deserved promotion and thanking her for her continued leadership and dedication to the Life Bridges family. We look forward to all she will accomplish in her new role.
