⚠️Beware of Immigration Services Scam⚠️

Please be aware that noncitizens here and around the country are being targeted by scammers who are pretending to be Catholic Charities and licensed attorneys. These scammers are sophisticated, producing fake immigration documents and impersonating government officials.

These scammers use social media and phone apps to advertise and contact their victims. Catholic Charities does not advertise and will never seek clients through Facebook, WhatsApp, or other social media. We will also never ask for payment of legal fees through apps like Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, or PayPal.

If you are contacted by any attorney or organization that you did not contact first, do not respond or share your personal information. If you suspect that you have been victimized by a scam, please contact Catholic Charities of Cleveland and/or law enforcement.

This November, Cuyahoga County voters will decide the future of health and human services funding through Issue 11, a proposed levy renewal and increase that supports seniors, children, individuals experiencing homelessness, and people seeking mental health and addiction services.

Recently,News 5 Cleveland interviewed Wilma Miles, a participant in St. Martin de Porres Family Center Senior Program, highlighting the importance of programs that help older adults stay active, connected, and engaged in their communities.

Wilma’s story reminds us why these services matter. As Election Day approaches, take time to learn about Issue 11 and understand how its outcome could affect individuals and families throughout our community.

Issue 11 helps fund health and human services across Cuyahoga County. If the levy does not pass, county leaders warn that cuts to some services could affect older adults and other residents who depend on these resources.

For more than five decades, Fatima has been a place where families find support, children find opportunity, and neighbors find connection. Fatima Rising, a documentary film, captures that impact through the voices of the people who have lived it, experienced it, and helped shape Fatima’s story.

From its roots in Hough to the generations of families who continue to walk through its doors, Fatima’s story is ultimately a story about people, community, and hope.
