The marketplace exposes weight fast. A deal falls apart. A trusted leader walks away. The numbers dip. The board wants answers now. Your team is watching you, trying to read your face. At home, the pressure does not let up. Decisions wait. Conversations linger. And somewhere in the middle of it all, the thought creeps in and will not leave: This is too much for me.

That moment tells you something. Not just about the situation, but about what you believe. We assume the weight is too heavy and we are too weak. That is the reflex. But what if that is not true? What if the weight is not misplaced? What if it were measured?

Scripture keeps pressing against our instinct to run from pressure. Noah carried the burden of obedience when no one else understood. Joseph bore betrayal and delay before stepping into leadership. Moses stood before Pharaoh with a stutter and a staff. Daniel held his ground in a hostile system that wanted to reshape him. These were not men who avoided weight. They were men shaped under it. We Do Not Work Just for Ourselves

When many people go to work, their motivation is typically self-oriented. They need to earn a living. They need to provide for their family. They need to have enough money to support their chosen lifestyle. They have found a vocation they are passionate about – they enjoy the work they do; it feels rewarding; it gives them a sense of affirmation and meaning.

None of these is wrong in itself. Each can be a reasonable byproduct of the work we do. However, even the smartest, most talented, most experienced person cannot accomplish everything that needs to be done all on their own. A “me-centered” approach to our work – and life – can be disastrous. Read more here: https://www.cbmcint.com/we-do-not-work-just-for-ourselves/

It usually starts with a screen glowing back at you. A spreadsheet. A forecast. A set of numbers that refuse to behave. The margin is thin. The pressure is real. People are looking to you for an answer, and everything in front of you says the same thing: This is not enough.

That moment is common in the marketplace. It is also sacred ground, the place where beliefs and values and convictions are put to the test. The question is, will we pass the test – or fail? READ MORE here: https://cbmc.com/blog/when-the-numbers-do-not-work/

The mission of CBMC is growing throughout Ohio. God is moving through men of CBMC NE Ohio and CBMC Columbus. Now the Spirit is moving in Toledo, where 20 years ago there was an active CBMC Toledo. Yet a CBMC remnant has been putting on the NWO Prayer Breakfast, and this week, Frank Harrison, CEO of Coca-Cola Consolidated, spoke at it. He was excellent as he was at our events a few years ago.

Please pray for the relaunching of CBMC Toledo. Let your friends in Toledo know, or let us know if there's any way you can assist.

Like we said when we assisted in starting a chapter in Columbus, now we say the same thing in Toledo. " Why not Toledo?"

Step into the office on a Monday morning. The hum of keyboards. The ping of emails. The competition that hides behind polite smiles and quarterly reports. It all feels ordinary, neutral. Just work. But it is not. Every workplace is a kind of temple, filled with its own rituals of worship. Success gets praised in performance reviews. Status gets crowned in promotions and titles. Security hides behind salaries and retirement plans. These are the gods of our age, small, shiny, and unrelenting.

And then Jesus walks in. During His time on earth, He never avoided the centers of influence. He went straight into them, the synagogues, the temple courts, the places where culture and conviction collided. He taught there. He healed there. He confronted what was broken there. And when the temple itself was hijacked by greed, He flipped the tables without flinching (Matthew 21:12-13). Jesus did not treat influence like a danger to avoid; He treated it like an assignment from His Father. Read more here: https://cbmc.com/blog/access-equals-influence/

Mark your calendars! CBMC & CBWC invite you to join us aboard the Goodtime III for a fun night on the water, a delicious dinner, and relational encouragement from our guest speakers –Bruce & Bonnie Jentner.

After our dinner program, we’ll enjoy a wonderful time on the top deck with drinks, friends, and spectacular sunset views.

Bruce founded the fee-only, fiduciary Jentner Wealth Management firm in Akron, serving clients nationally. He sold the firm in 2024 to Seth Jentner, Matt Jentner, and Dan Bloom, who continue to operate the firm today as the Ohio office of Beacon Pointe Advisors, LLC.

Bonnie served as the bookkeeper for several family businesses. She also home-schooled their 3 children and now enjoys investing in the lives of their 9 grandchildren. Bonnie currently focuses on discipling women, helping them hear God’s voice.

Together, Bruce & Bonnie enjoy the camaraderie of friends, golf, and ballroom dancing. They believe God is bringing a spiritual awakening in our culture and feel called to encourage the people God brings their way. So they are thrilled to share their story and what they’ve learned through 50 years of marriage –on what promises to be another memorable evening on the Goodtime!

The executive certainly looked the part. He was tall, athletic, radiating with a charisma that drew people to himself. What an impression he made on people when he met them, and especially when he spoke in public. So, everyone was stunned when he was fired for inappropriate use of company resources. It caused people to question not only the executive but the company’s values. How could they have chosen such a person to carry such leadership responsibilities?

Sadly, this is not a rare occurrence. All too often, we hear or read about a prominent leader, one who was well-known and widely admired, falling into some form of moral or ethical disgrace. What we see is not always what we get. How does this happen? How can appearances be so deceiving?

We find an insightful example in the Bible’s Old Testament. Read more here: https://cbmc.com/blog/looking-beyond-appearances/
