National Council Of Negro Women, Inc. was founded December 5, 1935 by Mary McLeod Bethune, distinguished educator and government consultant who advocated for the advancement of rights of minorities and women. As a voluntary nonprofit 501(c) (3) membership organization, NCNW works to improve the quality of life for women, children, families and communities across the United
States and in African countries. Through 39 national affiliate organizations, more than 240 community-based Chartered Sections and participating individuals, NCNW has an outreach to more than four million women. NCNW's international regional offices are in Egypt and Senegal, and it has acquired Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Consultative Status at the United Nations, one of only two African American women’s organizations to do so. Locally, NCNW is centrally organized to fill the gaps in our communities; NCNW calls on a core of volunteers to address local needs. NCNW brings to these initiatives the added support of a network of thousands of women whose collective efforts enhance community service and actions. CCS is the facilitator for programs listed on the back of this the membership brochure.
