October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! 🐾
Every shelter dog deserves a loving home, and for older adults, adopting a dog can bring so much more than companionship.
Research shows that having a pet can help reduce loneliness, encourage physical activity and provide a sense of purpose. And for a shelter dog waiting for a family, adoption can mean a whole new beginning.
At Pets for the Elderly, we're helping make those connections possible. Through our network of 61 participating shelters in 35 states, we help people 60 and older adopt companion animals at a reduced cost. Some of our shelter partners also use our funding to provide affordable veterinary care, helping seniors keep the pets they already love.
Since expanding nationally in 2002, we've helped more than 127,000 companion animals find or remain in loving homes.
This October, consider opening your heart and home to a shelter dog. You might just change two lives.
