Riding a personal watercraft is an increasingly popular way to beat the heat and have some fun on the water.

But PWC-related complaints are common throughout the state, so operators – and parents and guardians of young operators – should remember:

* The legal hours of operation are between 9:30 a.m. and one hour before sunset

* To travel at slow/no-wake speed within 150 feet or shore, non-motorized boats, docks, swimmers, swim rafts, or any anchored or moored boat.

* A life jacket must be worn while operating or riding.

As you get ready to celebrate the 4th of July, don't forget to pick up all balloon remnants from the lake after your water balloon extravaganza. It makes no difference if you have traditional, reusable or biodegradable balloons. All of them are a hazard for wildlife!

Take Action to protect County AIS Prevention Aid

In 2025 the Minnesota Legislature set the critically important County AIS Prevention Aid, CAISPA, formula to be cut 50% starting July 1, 2027.

CAISPA provides the majority of the county grant funding your lake receives for its AIS prevention/management programs, pays for DNR AIS inspector hours, and funds county AIS Coordinators.

We CAN restore this funding during the 2027 Legislative Session (Jan 2027 to May 2027).

This webinar will focus on Legislative Outcomes from 2026, and build a road map for 2027 that will lead to success. Do not miss this webinar.

Free Park Day is this Saturday, June 13, 2026!
