Introduction number one: Pedro!
I figured we would share what animals we have currently! Photos from when we got him a few months ago - current.
This is our horse, Pedro. He is an 8 (?) year old OTTB. He has a somewhat sad history: when he was getting castrated (NOT by licensed vet), he wouldn’t stop bleeding. They tried to throw chemicals on it to get it to stop, but after it wouldn’t, he was taken to an actual vet and basically just left there. He was treated for the bleeding and the burns he sustained on his legs. He was eventually adopted by one of the vet techs.
She was selling him just to do lack of time for him, and sadly he was getting bullied by the other horses she had so he was not able to graze enough, and was underweight. To top it off, he had a bad accident getting in the trailer to come to us (he said no thanks and tried to escape the trailer which did not end well).
So when he pulled up (after going to the vet to get stitched up) he was in rough shape. He had sutures in his forehead from slicing it open and multiple wounds on his legs and body.
Fast forward: The vet took out the sutures and said his legs are healing nicely, we just have one small open area that’s still in the healing phase. He has gained a decent amount of weight (still gaining) and eats all by himself to his heart’s content (within reason 😆). He gets treats and has access to the chain link backyard as a temporary solution until his almost acre fence comes in December. He loves to run, roll in sand, and occasionally try to bite you if he isn’t fed his pellets by 6AM 🙃. He does pretty well being ridden but will occasionally just decide he doesn’t want, runs to my neighboring lot, and just stands there. Then comes back with me and decides it’s okay. 🤷🏻♀️
We love you, Pedro!
