The Historic Cleveland Neighborhood Association presents a historical reprint of Louise Harle’s I Remember Tall Tales and True of Cleveland and Bradley County with many additional historical images not available with the original print in 1979.

As you read her recollections of historic downtown Cleveland, you’ll be taken back in time to a more simple era. A hodgepodge of homes, churches, shops, hotels, banks, blacksmiths, saloons and more. The book is a first hand account from the lady who was born and lived most of her fascinating life on Inman Street where the Museum Center at Five Points is now located. The Harle family was very much a part of our town’s origins and contributed to its growth and development for nearly a century and half. Her love for the history of this area was sparked as a young girl at the corner of Inman and Edwards Street spending time with her grandparents within the J.H. Harle & Bro General Store listening to early happenings handed down by old-timers. (This is now the newly restored building owned by HHM Certified Public Accountants.)

Proceeds will benefit the Cleveland Bradley County Library History Branch & Archives and the Historic Cleveland Neighborhood Association. You can purchase online by using the QR Code below or you can go to HCNA’s website at www.historiccleveland.org. ( Go to “Resource” page, then click on the book tab.) Copies will also be available at the Historic Library Branch and the Museum Center Gift Shop. Additional questions can be sent to [email protected].

These will make great holiday gifts, so purchase early before they are gone.
