If there is such a thing as a perfect week— we think we had one at the worker center.
First, the Worker Center crew met up at Labor Notes in Chicago. We learned, we laughed, we built community and we took the conference by storm. Stay tuned for a more full debrief by the labor & ed committee later this summer.
Next, some of the worker center staff went on to visit Voces de la Frontera, a Milwaukee based worker center that has been organizing with the immigrant community for over 30 years. The warmth, generosity, and wisdom of the Voces team is something we will carry with us for a long time.
Finally, we hurried home to close out the week with another session of our book club for Origins of the family, private property, and the state. Where Ricardo and Heather led another important (and fun!) discussion.
There’s more to say on these experiences, but for now, we’ll just say, we feel enormously lucky to be in community with comrades both near and far. The work is hard, but when the company is good, everything seems just a little bit more possible!
