South Enotah Child Advocacy Center

South Enotah Child Advocacy Center The South Enotah Child Advocacy Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting child abuse The South Enotah Child Advocacy Center, Inc.

It is the mission of the South Enotah Child Advocacy Center to unite community partners to deliver excellence in child abuse response and prevention through service, education and leadership. is a non-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status that was established in 2016. The Center grew out of the efforts of concerned citizens, law enforcement personnel, and child protective services professionals

in Lumpkin and White Counties to better serve children who have been the victims of child abuse and to enhance existing efforts in both communities to prevent child abuse. Independent efforts to establish a child advocacy center were underway in each community, and when the two groups became aware of each other they recognized that their efforts could better be combined to serve both counties with one organization. The combined working group that established South Enotah CAC and populates its board of directors includes representatives of the faith community, the Division of Family and Children’s Services, the Sheriff’s Office in both counties, Family Connection, the University of North Georgia and concerned citizens with a professional background in child abuse and family services. The backgrounds and experience of these individuals made them acutely aware of the need for and the importance of a child advocacy center and fueled their commitment to this effort. Recognizing the value of the effort and the need for these services in both communities, the Enotah District Attorney’s Office provided the funding to establish the corporation and secure 501(c)(3) status and Carl Free, an attorney in Cleveland, contributed his services pro bono to create the corporation. The purpose and mission of South Enotah CAC is “Uniting community partners to deliver excellence in child abuse response and prevention through service, education, and leadership.” So much has already been accomplished in the short amount of time since our inception and we're excited for the future of the South Enotah Child Advocacy Center!

Summer brings more free time, new experiences, and opportunities for children to explore. It's also a great reminder for caregivers to stay engaged and know who your children are spending time with, monitor their online activity, and keep communication open. When children know they have trusted adults who will listen and support them, they're better equipped to stay safe. ☀️💙

Today, while giving a presentation about our Center, someone asked a question about predators. It led to an important conversation.

The word “predator” often makes people picture someone who looks obviously dangerous or evil. But the reality is much more complicated. People who abuse children are often skilled at grooming not only children, but also the adults around them. They work to build trust, appear helpful, kind, involved, and safe so that no one would believe they could ever hurt a child.

That’s why prevention and education matter so much. Protecting children is not about teaching them to fear strangers but about helping adults recognize unhealthy behaviors, trust their instincts, and create environments with strong boundaries and accountability.

We truly appreciated this question today because it gave us the opportunity to talk about grooming behaviors and the reality of how abuse often happens. These conversations may be uncomfortable, but education and awareness are some of the strongest tools we have to protect children.

A huge thank you to the Atlanta Gladiators for donating 50 stuffed animals to our center from their 2026 Teddy Bear Toss event! 🧸💙

These teddy bears mean more than words can express to the children we serve. They provide comfort during difficult moments, give children something special to take home, and are even used during forensic medical exams to help ease fears. Sometimes our pediatric sexual assault nurse examiners will walk a child through the exam process using the teddy bear first, helping them feel safer and more in control.

Your generosity will make such a meaningful difference for so many children and families in our community. Thank you for helping us bring comfort, support, and smiles to kids when they need it most.
