The OSU Alumni Club of Greater Cleveland invites you to join us in supporting the American Red Cross for a community blood drive on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

The need for blood is constant, and your single donation can save up to three lives. To show our appreciation, all donors will receive a gift certificate for a free pint of Pierre's Ice Cream and a Malley’s Chocolate bar.

It’s a great chance to stock up on fresh customized baseball gear with in-store discounts while catching up with local alumni. If you’re one of the first 100 people to register, you'll also receive a customized Guardians co-branded hat with your name embroidered on-site while you shop.

Jerry Lee Bailey, 83, of Gahanna, Ohio, formerly of Cleveland and Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Feb. 2, 2026. Lee graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Journalism degree in 1965. He began his career as a
newsman and worked in all facets of journalism: radio, newspaper, and television and as a reporter at WEWS Channel 5 in Cleveland. He was a pioneer in the field of investigative reporting and won a 1974 Emmy Award for Individual Achievement. In 1983, Lee left the news business for Public Relations at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, then Centerior Energy, from which Lee retired.

Lee served on the boards of the Cleveland Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Cleveland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
In retirement, he served on the Gahanna Parks & Recreations Foundation council. Lee volunteered for the Melanoma Research Fund.

Lee loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a life member and past President of the OSU Alumni Club of Greater Cleveland.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, Feb. 12 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 East Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, Ohio.

The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until the service.

Our Social Chair, Jill Ross, headed back to campus recently for the Day of Learning Conference! 🎓

Jill spent the day at OSU collaborating on how to build alumni communities that actually matter. She’s bringing all that energy back to Cleveland to help create deeper, lasting connections for our local Buckeyes.

Maryann Kennedy, BS ’78, passed away on January 21, 2026. A lifetime member of our club, supporter of the College of Pharmacy, Maryann served on the Pharmacy Alumni Society Board, Dean’s Corporate Council, and the college’s Time and Change Campaign Committee. Maryann and her husband, Larry, were generous benefactors whose support advanced learning spaces, student scholarships, and other college priorities.
