Ignatius High School, a program dedicated to supporting the homeless in Cleveland, Ohio. Adam Grodzik, a fun-loving and compassionate senior at St. Ignatius High School, was tragically taken from us in a fatal car crash in September of 2010. Adam is best remembered by his friends for his generous and kind counsel. He lived with a true passion for life, and possessed an innate ability to connect wi
th others. To quote one friend, “His kindness and positive personality brought light and happiness to all that had the privilege to know him. His memory will remind me that I will always be my brothers keeper. In that way, Adam’s presence will keep the flame of kindness, compassion, and fun always burning within me.”
Adam’s love of others brought him to serve with the St. Benedict Joseph Labre Ministry for the Homeless at St. This ministry serves the homeless of Cleveland weekly without fail, year round, regardless of weather or other obstacles. Unlike other programs, this ministry sends young men and women onto the streets, seeking those in need, and providing not only food but much needed staples such as clothing, personal care items, reading materials and most importantly, companionship. Through this ministry, friendships are formed; bonds of love and understanding that transcend social barriers and remind everyone that we are all the same in God's eyes. As a way to memorialize their love, and to keep Adam’s vibrant spirit alive, his family has established a Memorial Fund at St. Ignatius, exclusively for the Labre Ministry. Every dollar donated goes towards helping the poor and homeless of Cleveland. To date the fund exceeds $35,000, making it a permanent endowment in Adam’s memory at the school.
