Yessss!!! It's here amen!
“Lord, send the rain. Help us to hear the sound of abundance before we ever see the clouds. God, You’re greater than a forecast. You are able to bring an abundance that can end a drought in one single cloud. As we humble ourselves, Lord help to fix our eyes of faith on You and trust You to bring the rain.”
We are praying for rain for our county, which is in extreme drought (D3). Across our region, crops are struggling, ponds are shrinking, and some private wells have gone dry.
As we pray for rain, we are reminded of the faith of Elijah.
1 Kings 18:43–44 says: “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant… Six times the servant said, “There is nothing there.” The seventh time he reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”
Elijah told his servant to look toward the sea. He came back and said, “There is nothing there.” Again Elijah said, “Go back.” Six times the servant returned with the same report: “There is nothing.” But on the seventh trip, the servant finally said, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”
To the servant, it was just a tiny cloud. To Elijah, it was the beginning of God’s answer.
Why?
Because Elijah wasn’t putting his faith in the size of the cloud. He was putting his faith in the God who had promised rain. Before there was a cloud, Elijah said, “I hear the sound of a heavy rain.” (1 Kings 18:41)
Faith often hears what eyes cannot yet see.
As many of us pray for rain, let’s pray like Elijah—trusting the God who is able. Don’t despise the small cloud. Don’t give up after the sixth report. Keep praying. Keep believing. The size of the cloud has never determined the size of what God can do.
