Let's work together to rebuild our communities.

60 million people have been affected by cyclone Amphan. One Million houses are damaged with 200,000 people still in relief camps. There is water shortage due to pipelines being damaged and villages are submerged in saline water. We are working with three partners on the ground : Chetna Sangh, Mukti, and BTS to support relief and rebuild the community back.

Posted • .india Amphan cyclone has made landfall at the same time as a high tide, resulting in a breach of bunds in many places. Some very brave people have gone out in the storm and tried to shore up the embankments. .
At about 10 am ET, we lost all phone connections with the people in Sunderbans. So far the word is that there has been massive destruction to property - even concrete buildings have been damaged, while mud huts are completely destroyed. Crops have suffered a lot too. We are closely following the developments.

There is never a good time for a cyclone but it could not have been worser timing in ongoing pandemic and lockdown.
Let's come together to plan early to respond

is expected to make landfall on Sundarbans, West Bengal in the next 24 hours. The region has already been affected badly due to and lockdown. With a cyclone of this intensity, Sundarbans may be facing tremendous damage to what’s left of agriculture, property, and livelihoods in the next few days.

We are currently talking to our NGO partners on the ground about ways of mitigating the imminent food and water shortage in the area. Our partners like Mukti are working with the local administration to help people shelter in schools and flood centers.
