๐โค๏ธ MVSU Alumni Spotlight: Coach Demarcus McKinley โค๏ธ๐
The Mississippi Valley State University Bolivar County Alumni Chapter proudly celebrates one of our own, Coach Demarcus McKinley, Class of 2004, for his outstanding achievement in leading Northside High School to a 2A State Championship.
Coach McKinleyโs journey is a powerful reflection of what it means to be a true Delta Devil. From his days at MVSU, where he earned his degree in business administration, to building a championship culture at Northside, he has demonstrated unwavering dedication, discipline, and heart.
In his sixth year at Northside, Coach McKinley guided his team to a historic title, defeating Pelahatchie 51 to 39 to secure the first state championship of his coaching career. What makes this accomplishment even more special is the road it took to get there, years of perseverance, previous deep playoff runs, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Coach McKinley is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., having pledged the Zeta Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Animal House) in Spring 2002, a testament to his commitment to leadership, scholarship, fellowship, and service.
He is known for instilling values that go beyond basketball:
โ๏ธ Hard work and discipline
โ๏ธ Building strong relationships with student-athletes
โ๏ธ Teaching life lessons through the game
As he shared, success is not just about talent. It is about culture, effort, and belief.
From Greenville roots to Ray Brooks, and now to championship glory at Northside, Coach McKinley continues to represent Mississippi Valley State University with excellence and pride.
๐๐พ We salute you, Coach McKinley! Your success is a testament to the impact of MVSU graduates across the Delta and beyond.
