Meet Human Nature!

You might find yourself asking, why? Tell them that it’s Human Nature! This sweet, quiet boy recently came to us when his owner could no longer keep him. He took a little time to come out of his shell, but we know he just had some big changes, and he just needed some patience. He’s ready to find a couch to snuggle up on.

Meet New River Gorge!

Gorge is large and in charge; he’s an orange boy who has never had a turn with the brain cell. He’s an absolute ham, soaking up all of the attention he can get. He also loves food; in fact, he came to us when our Director approached his colony and opened a can of wet food, and Gorge came RUNNING from out of nowhere. He is a beefcake, what's not to love?

‼️URGENT:

You may remember our story from the other day about a FeLV kitten we saved from euthanasia, and ended up being FeLV negative through our testing.

Now, we need your help. 🙏❤️🐈‍⬛

We are a little bit behind on our IDEXX bill, but when Phoenix came to us, we couldn’t turn away doing a comprehensive test on him.

We test EVERY SINGLE ONE of our cats and kittens for FeLV, FIV, and heartworms before adopting them out. We do f***l tests, panleuk tests, giardia tests, etc. when we need to.

It’s all part of the lifesaving care we dedicate ourselves to with every cat that comes into our care. And right now, we are drowning in debt to IDEXX.

This little angel was set to be euthanized at a small city shelter for being FeLV positive on a snap test.

The vet couldn’t do it. So she called our director and we took in the baby, guaranteed to give him a second chance.
He also was suffering from ringworm, an easily treatable condition.

We isolated him for weeks, treating the ringworm, and letting him grow.

Then - a miracle.

On a more comprehensive blood test, this baby tested negative for FeLV.

FeLV is in no way a death sentence, but it greatly impacts their immune system and we are so relieved to see a negative result. This baby gets a second chance at life and is another example of what we can do when we work together in rescue.

Slayer may have a fierce name, but this little kitten is all sweetness with a playful spark. Inspired by her Buffy the Vampire Slayer namesake, she’s a tiny hero who survived a dramatic start—she was found tucked safely inside the engine of a car at a repair shop.

Now safe and thriving, Slayer is a tame, playful kitten who enjoys fun, affection, and being part of the action. She gets along wonderfully with cats, dogs, and kids, making her a great fit for many kinds of homes.

From engine bay survivor to cuddly companion, Slayer is ready for her next chapter—one filled with love instead of danger.
