Yesterday, we were honored to celebrate the incredible generosity of the American Cruisers and their annual support of MetroHealth’s Burn Care Center.

For more than 30 years, the American Cruisers Auto Show has brought together car enthusiasts, community partners and supporters with one shared goal: helping burn survivors heal and recover. Because of these dedicated supporters, patients and families receive specialized burn care, rehabilitation and ongoing support when they need it most.

Have you ever wished you could thank a caregiver who changed your life?

Now you can.

MetroHealth patients and families can use a new "Thank a Caregiver" feature in MyChart to recognize the nurses, physicians, therapists and caregivers who made a difference during their healthcare journey. They can share a message of gratitude and even make a gift in honor of a caregiver through the Guardians of Health program. Caregivers recognized through a gift receive a special Guardians of Health lapel pin as a symbol of the lives they touch every day.

A simple thank you can mean more than you know.

This summer, MetroHealth's School Health Program transformed schools into temporary healthcare hubs, bringing physicals, vaccinations, preventive care and wellness visits directly to students. The program helps remove barriers such as transportation challenges, scheduling conflicts and limited access to care.

The results extend beyond school readiness. In one case, a routine sports physical uncovered a serious medical condition requiring immediate intervention. These moments demonstrate the power of community-based healthcare delivered where children and families need it most.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder that early detection can save lives and that no one should have to face cancer alone. 💗

For Terissa Conner (right), a routine mammogram led to a breast cancer diagnosis that changed everything. Today, cancer-free, she was joined by her daughter to celebrate the opening of MetroHealth's new Outpatient Health Center, where she became one of the first patients to ring the survivorship bell.

Her story reflects what makes MetroHealth's new Center for Breast Health so special.

Located within the Outpatient Health Center, the Center brings breast imaging, surgical evaluation, biopsies, physical therapy, psychological support, palliative care and other essential services together in one convenient location. Patients can often receive a screening mammogram, diagnostic follow-up, surgical evaluation and even a biopsy in the same day, helping reduce delays, ease anxiety and accelerate access to treatment.

This coordinated approach was designed with patients and families in mind, making a difficult journey a little less overwhelming and ensuring no one faces it alone.

As we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're grateful for the donors whose generosity helps advance innovative care, patient support services and the future of breast health at MetroHealth.

What if one act of kindness inspired an entire workplace?

Meet Mala Singh, a Dining Services Aide whose generosity extends far beyond the cafeteria line.

Last year during the We Give Metro Employee Giving Campaign, Mala increased her payroll gift and encouraged her coworkers to get involved. Several employees joined the campaign because of her example.

Why? Because she knows firsthand how powerful employee giving can be. Years ago, when she faced financial hardship, the Employee Hardship Fund helped her get back on her feet.

"You don't have to give a lot," Mala says. "You give what you can afford."

For more than 40 years, the Chester Scholars Endowment has been opening doors for students who dream of careers in medicine, research and healthcare.

Because of the generosity of our donors, Chester Scholars receive much more than a summer opportunity. They gain hands-on research experience, meaningful mentorship from MetroHealth physicians and the confidence to pursue their goals.

For 2026 scholar Gloria Price, the experience was "seriously life-changing," helping her explore a newfound passion for neonatology while balancing college and motherhood. For Piyush Chitnis, it provided a deeper understanding of the people behind the research and strengthened his commitment to a career in medicine.

Since 1981, more than 600 students have participated in the program, with many going on to become physicians, researchers and healthcare leaders.

To everyone who has supported the Chester Scholars Endowment, thank you. Your generosity is helping talented students discover what's possible and inspiring the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Since 2009, Howard Hanna has been a dedicated supporter of MetroHealth's Child Life & Education Program through the HH Children's Free Care Fund.

Their generosity helps Child Life specialists provide comfort, education and emotional support to children and families throughout their healthcare journey. Through therapeutic play, preparation and family-centered care, they help make hospital and medical experiences less stressful and more empowering for young patients.

Those are the themes woven throughout the more than 1,100 works of art featured in MetroHealth's new Outpatient Health Center.

Created by 278 artists, the collection includes murals, paintings, photographs and site-specific installations that help transform the healthcare experience for patients, families and caregivers. Many of the pieces reflect the diversity, resilience and shared experiences of the communities MetroHealth serves.

The collection also highlights the impact of generous donors who have strengthened MetroHealth's Arts in Health program through gifts of artwork and philanthropic support. Together, they are helping create spaces that inspire connection, comfort and well-being alongside clinical care.

As Linda Jackson, Director of MetroHealth's Center for Arts in Health, shares in our latest story, the collection was intentionally designed to reflect the people and communities we serve while creating a more welcoming and healing environment for all.
