Open Call for Artists🎉🖼🔥
I am looking for artists to pick up a brick this Saturday, design it and donate it to the Woody Restoration Arts Incubator Project’s ‘Silent Auction’. The ‘Silent Auction’ is a part of a larger fundraising event to be announced for Late September. Stay tuned!!
Just stop by this Saturday between 12:30-5pm and pick up your brick. The bricks will need to be returned by Sept 18th.
Have fun! Paint it! Decorate it! Just don’t throw it! As you can see, I have plenty. Lol! (Brick designed by the amazing Sequoia Bostick)
Proceeds will go to restoration efforts for the building.🙏🏽🙏🏽
Plus, helping hands are needed for this Saturday starting at 12:30.
By the way, the bricks came from the original 1912 foundation I’m trying to fix.

WHAT IS THE WOODY RESTORATION ARTS INCUBATOR PROJECT?

--Jimmy Woody is an actor, producer, film maker and teaching artist in Cleveland.
--He is working to restore his late father's property on E. 138th and Harvard - "the LAB". Since his passing, Jimmie has worked to keep his father's legacy alive by providing arts-based activities and opportunities for the neighborhood, but the building has suffered from break-ins and structural damage over the past few years. But he remains dedicated to bringing arts and culture to this community in need.
--Phase 1 of the Arts Incubator Project is to restore The LAB through demolition, excavation, and clean up. Volunteers have been working throughout the summer to get things started!

Since 2005, this project has supported artists and strengthens communities by providing: arts programming, creating new cultural resources and developing affordable studio spaces.

We had an awesome ride on Saturday, August 1! 10 of us set out from the Cleveland sign in Tremont and headed south along the towpath. One group rode to Valley View and back, and a second group made it all the way to Brecksville and back - 32 miles! We posted photos and videos along the way to raise funds and awareness for the Woody Restoration Arts Incubator Project. Join us for our next ride on August 22! See the event for details.

Check out all these joyful, incredible volunteers over the past couple of months! We've been working hard every week to scrape, paint, landscape, clean, and more and get The LAB ready for a visit from City officials. Thank you to all who have helped!
