Today, Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter was honored and laid to rest. Police officers representing many departments from the region and throughout the state came to honor his service and pay respects. May he rest in peace and may his family, police family, and friends find strength during this difficult time. The Northeast Ohio Public Safety Foundation, is actively working to reform Cuyahoga County Government with our effort to change the Sheriff from an appointed position to an elected position. The "Elect our Sheriff" campaign. Yesterday, as I was walking my pup, I saw newly appointed Sheriff Pretel coming out of our neighborhood coffee shop. I stopped him to introduce myself because I wanted to let him know that our efforts are not personal - just about good government. Towards the end, I spoke to him in Spanish and we ended the conversation, quite cordially, in Spanish. Often times today, political differences place us in different camps. The Elect our Sheriff Campaign is bipartisan and is supported by many ordinary citizens and elected officials, especially those whose duties are adjacent to what is currently the Sheriff's Department. (it will once again be the Sheriff's Office once that position is elected) What a great opportunity to strive for good government in a bipartisan way.

It has been 11 days 7 media hits and neither County Council nor County Exec have commented on the effort - in fact, Council President Pernel Jones declined comment to cleveland.com...They won't comment or act until they hear your voice!!!

The County Council and Executive know that the system is broken and need your voice to act!!! Contact your member of Council and the Executive and let them know that the people's vote to select the Sheriff is the fix.
