The Back to School is COOL board of directors has decided to create a legacy fund with the Community Foundation of South Lake County to assist homeless and economically challenged Lake County students to succeed at school. We envision a process by which certain Title I representatives and homeless liaisons will request funds directly from the Foundation, thus enabling the representatives to fulfill emergent needs. Through this change, BTSIC will no longer solicit in-kind donations (such as school supplies) from the public. Nor will the organization provide funds directly to the public—all money will flow through the Community Foundation. This decision was made after much reflection and consideration regarding Lake County's community needs. More and more organizations are providing school supplies, so we believe our constituents are better served by having money available for emergency use. Because the Foundation will handle the funds going forward, BTSIC as an entity will be dissolved, and donors may continue supporting the mission through the long-lasting legacy fund. To donate to our legacy fund, you may contact the Community Foundation at (352) 394-3818 or by mail at the following address:
