Today, we remember the legendary Dory Funk Sr, who passed away 53 years ago—a true pioneer whose impact on professional wrestling still echoes through generations.

Dory Funk Sr. was more than just a competitor in the ring; he was a visionary promoter, a master of his craft, and the cornerstone of the Texas wrestling scene. As the driving force behind the Amarillo territory, he helped shape the rugged, hard-hitting style that defined an era and influenced countless performers who followed.

His legacy lives on not only through the territory he built, but through the incredible lineage of talent he nurtured—including his sons, who carried the Funk name to even greater heights. He represented toughness, authenticity, and a deep respect for the business at a time when wrestling was built on grit and pride.

More than five decades later, the mark Dory Funk Sr. left on this industry remains undeniable. He helped lay the foundation for what professional wrestling would become, and his contributions will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace to a true trailblazer and patriarch of one of wrestling’s most respected families. Your legacy stands tall, and your memory endures.

Remembering Kevin Vltra Peterson

Wonderful words by CAC member and host of the Get Your Bell Rung Pro Wrestling Podcast K.G. Landry

The professional wrestling world, particularly the independent wrestling community, suffered a heartbreaking loss with the passing of Kevin Vitra Peterson.

For many fans, wrestlers, promoters, and friends, Kevin was more than just another personality in professional wrestling. He was a passionate supporter of the business, a storyteller, an entertainer, and someone who genuinely loved the art of professional wrestling. His enthusiasm for wrestling was impossible to miss, whether you encountered him at a live event, through social media, or in conversations about the history and future of the industry.

Kevin was known for his larger-than-life personality and his commitment to the wrestling character he embraced. In an era where kayfabe often feels like a relic of the past, Kevin proudly carried the spirit of old-school wrestling. He understood that wrestling is at its best when fans believe, when characters come alive, and when people are willing to immerse themselves in the experience.

Throughout his time in the wrestling community, Kevin worked with regional independent promotions and became a recognizable figure across the Midwest wrestling scene. He wasn't chasing fame or fortune. He was doing what he loved. He was helping keep independent wrestling alive by contributing his time, energy, creativity, and passion.

One of the things that stood out most about Kevin was his love for tag team wrestling and territorial wrestling traditions. He often shared his thoughts on the psychology of tag team wrestling, the importance of storytelling, and the lessons modern wrestling could learn from the past. Whether people agreed with him or not, there was never any doubt that his opinions came from a place of genuine love and respect for the business.

The wrestling industry is built on relationships, and judging by the reactions that have poured in since news of his passing became public, Kevin made an impact on a great many people. Friends, colleagues, and fellow wrestling fans have shared memories, stories, and photographs that paint a picture of someone who truly cared about the wrestling community and the people within it.

Professional wrestling often celebrates larger-than-life superstars who perform on the biggest stages in the world. Yet the foundation of this industry has always been people like Kevin Vitra Peterson. The independent wrestling promoters, managers, personalities, workers, and fans who dedicate themselves to preserving the spirit of professional wrestling because they simply love it.

Our thoughts are with Kevin's family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched. While his passing leaves a void in the wrestling community, his passion, personality, and contributions will not be forgotten.

On behalf of everyone at Get Your Bell Rung Pro Wrestling Podcast, we extend our deepest condolences to those mourning this tremendous loss.

Rest in peace, Kevin Vitra Peterson.

Thank you for your passion.

Thank you for your dedication.

And thank you for helping keep the spirit of professional wrestling alive.

My condolences to everyone who knew Kevin. From the reactions shared by those who worked alongside him, it's clear he left a lasting impression on the independent wrestling community.

Remembering the legendary Freddie Blassie—“Classy” in name, unforgettable in presence—on the 23rd anniversary of his passing.

Today we remember the one and only “Classy” Freddie Blassie, a true original whose impact on professional wrestling can never be overstated.

Freddie Blassie wasn’t just a performer—he was a master of his craft, a trailblazer who helped shape the very foundation of sports entertainment as we know it today. From his days as a hated villain drawing thunderous boos in arenas across the country, to his later role as a legendary manager guiding some of the biggest stars in the business, Blassie knew exactly how to command attention and leave a lasting impression.

With his sharp tongue, unmistakable voice, and larger-than-life personality, he made fans believe. Whether they loved him or despised him, they reacted—and that’s what made him special. He understood the art of storytelling in the ring better than most, and his influence can still be seen in generations of performers who followed in his footsteps.

Beyond the spotlight, Freddie was respected by his peers as a tough competitor and a dedicated professional who gave everything to the business he loved.

Twenty-three years after his passing, the legacy of “Classy” Freddie Blassie lives on—etched into the history of wrestling and remembered by fans who witnessed his greatness.
