One of the sweetest things about good friends is the way they love your kids too.

It’s the friend sitting in the bleachers when you can’t make the game who sends you a picture and says, “He’s doing great.”

The mom who says, “I can grab her,” when your meeting runs long and you’re trying to figure out how to be in two places at once.

The friend who remembers your kid has a big test today. Who cheers for them from the sidelines. Who asks how the audition went or remembers which one hates tomatoes or knows the teenager well enough to tease him right back.

There are so many years of parenting when we simply cannot do all of it.

And what a gift to look around and realize we were never doing all of it alone.

Good friends love your kids well.

They show up for the people who matter most to you, simply because they matter to you.

And I’m not sure there are many better ways to say, “I love you,” than that.
