Clemson Engineers for Developing Communities

Clemson Engineers for Developing Communities CEDC is a student led service learning initiative from Clemson University. The class is student led but advised by faculty members and industry partners.

With CEDC we provide opportunities for students to put into practice skills learned in their majors for the betterment of the Haitian people. This is accomplished by integrating students from ~19 different majors in order to provide services in economic development, education, and infrastructure. The base of the organization is a Creative Inquiry class at Clemson University comprised of ~80 studen

ts who work weekly to research and design infrastructure projects, create business strategies, market and fundraise for the organization, and reach out and partner with other organizations. The projects that reach the field are managed by our student interns in Haiti, students who work for a minimum of seven months to oversee projects, collect data, and maintain working and personal relationships with the villages we work in. CEDC is constantly growing and adapting, every semester is met with new challenges and opportunities. We are always open to new partnerships, membership, and service opportunities. If you would like to be involved, contact us by email and we will be in touch.

A huge congratulations to our graduates! We wish you the best as you venture forward!

Great class today with the Fall 2024 Watershed games! The exercise was designed to simulate real world engineering projects and project management with “money” allotted and a design margin established. The simulation encouraged critical thinking, collaboration, and open communication between groups!
