Wings of Hope Equitherapy Partnering horses and humans since 1996 The partnership breaks down barriers for someone who has experienced isolation and exclusion through their disability.

Wings of Hope was founded in 1996 to provide inclusion for those with disabilities, specifically for children and adults with physical, mental or emotional challenges through the partnership of a horse. The partnership of a horse allows those with disabilities the opportunity to explore new ways to navigate independence, to gain tools and skills to sharpen and enhance abilities, to discover strengths and address challenges. We serve as an advocate for meeting individuals for where they are in life with a focus on abilities rather than disabilities.

Wishlist Wednesday looks a little different this week 👀

If you’ve ever taken a scroll through our Amazon Wishlist and thought, “Okay… but why does an equitherapy center need THAT?” fair question. 😂

Around here, something that looks like a simple toy can become part of an activity that keeps a session engaging, interactive and FUN. Our instructors are pretty creative when it comes to finding ways to incorporate games and activities while working toward each participant’s individual goals.

So yes… sometimes our Wishlist looks a little less “horses” and a little more “who gave these people water guns?” 💦😂

Every item has a purpose, even the ones you might not expect.

Training doesn’t always look like training. 🐴💙

Ferdinand and Dolly are still two of the newest members of our herd, and both are continuing their journey toward becoming Wings program horses.

Some days that means groundwork, learning new skills, experiencing new things, and figuring out exactly what we’re asking of them.

And some days? It means opening up the arena and letting them stretch their legs, kick up a little dust, and just be horses. 🤎

Every new horse gets the time they need to settle in, build confidence, learn our routines, and show us who they are before we ever ask them to step into the important work our program horses do.

Ferd clearly understood the “stretch your legs” portion of the assignment.

Dolly understood the assignment too. We promise. She’s just approximately 97% obscured by Ferdinand in the photographic evidence. 😂

There’s a lot that happens before a horse ever carries their first Wings Client, and these quiet, dusty days are part of the journey, too.

Our Amazon Angels have been BUSY lately. 🥹📦💙

A new bridle. Not one, but TWO new riding helmets. Snacks for our clients and volunteers. Cleaning supplies. Electrolytes for our horses AND humans. Program Activities. And, one complimentary box for the barn cat. 😂

They may not all be the most glamorous things on a nonprofit wish list, but every single one of them fills a real need at Wings.

A helmet helps keep a rider safe. A bridle keeps one of our equine partners equipped for their job. Snacks keep our people going through long afternoons at the barn. And yes… somebody does, in fact, have to mop around here. 🤣

When you purchase something from our Amazon Wish List, you're doing more than sending us a package. You're taking one little expense off our plate and putting something we need directly into our hands, which means more of our resources can stay focused on our horses, our programs, and the people we serve.

North Texas Giving Day is almost over, and would you LOOK at what y’all have done. 💙

We’ve been keeping an eye on that number all day. (Keeping an eye = refreshing the page far more often than any reasonable person needs to, but that feels like a conversation for another time.)

More importantly, we’ve watched name after name pop up from people who chose to believe in this mission today.

Some of you gave. Some of you shared our posts or sent the link to a friend. Some of you have been cheering us on since we first announced this slightly unhinged $50,000 goal.

And somehow, here we are in the final hours, looking at how far you’ve already carried us.

Thank you. Seriously.

We knew $50,000 was a big ask when we put it out into the world. That was kind of the point.

Thirty years ago, Wings of Hope started with a big idea about what could happen when you put people and horses together. Thirty years later, we think this mission has earned the right to keep dreaming just as big.

So $50,000 isn’t only a fundraising goal. It’s us planting a flag for the future and saying, “Yeah. We think Wings can go there.”

Apparently, quite a few of you think so too. 🥹

Giving is still open for a little while longer, which means we are not putting the metaphorical horses back in the barn just yet.

If you’ve been meaning to give, there’s still time. If giving isn’t in the cards tonight, sharing this post costs exactly $0 and we are VERY fond of that price point.

What does a North Texas Giving Day gift actually look like at Wings of Hope? 🐴💚

Sometimes it looks like a bag of feed.

Sometimes it's a farrier visit, veterinary care, equipment or the everyday expenses of caring for the incredible horses who make our programs possible.

Sometimes it helps keep our facility ready and our programs running.

And sometimes, it looks like someone climbing onto a horse and discovering strength, confidence, connection or independence they didn't know was possible.

Every gift becomes part of something bigger here.

Because at the end of the day, our goal isn't simply to raise $50,000.

It's to continue being here.

For the next rider.
The next family.
The next breakthrough.
The next quiet moment of progress.

IT'S NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY! 💚🐴

And this year, we're dreaming BIG.

Earlier this year, we set a $200,000 fundraising dream in honor of our 30th Anniversary. At Round-Up for Riders, this incredible community showed up in a BIG way and helped us raise $150,000.

Today, North Texas Giving Day gives us another opportunity to keep building on that incredible generosity, with a goal of raising $50,000 toward that $200,000 dream.

And while we're dreaming big... we've also been doing a little scheming around the barn. 👀

Let's just say, the closer you help us get to our goal, the more chaos you might start seeing around here.

🐴 Our horses may be choosing staff members for some questionable makeovers.

🥧 There may or may not be a pie to the face in someone's future.

👀 And that's about all we're willing to disclose right now.

What else are we scheming?
