SUPPORT THE BILLETDEOUX FAMILY. This is a difficult time for Mariel and her family following the unexpected loss of her beloved husband, SPPD Detective and Marine Michael Billetdeoux.

As Mariel navigates the days ahead while caring for their two young daughters, ages 3 and 7 months, many friends have asked how they can help.

This Meal Train has been created to provide practical support through meals, gift cards, and other acts of kindness so that Mariel can focus on her family and take things one day at a time.

Whether you are able to provide a meal, send a gift card, or simply keep the family in your prayers, every gesture is deeply appreciated.

FREE TACTICAL MENTAL HEALTH RESILIENCY COURSE FOR DISPATCHERS. Dispatchers are often the first to hear the fear, panic, and trauma behind an emergency call. Day in and day out, they coordinate critical incidents, provide calming guidance, and carry the emotional weight of traumatic events, long after a shift ends. The stress is real, and mental resilience is essential.

This completely FREE 16-hour in-person course was developed by our most recent Sun Coast PBA Law Enforcement Applied Mental Health cohort to help strengthen the mental wellness and resiliency of public safety professionals, whether in the field or behind the console.

The course is open to dispatch professionals, law enforcement officers, detention and corrections personnel, fire and rescue personnel, and EMS personnel.

Participants will gain practical tools to recognize and address chronic stress, to support themselves and each other, and to prioritize their mental health both on and off duty.

The course will be held August 27–28 from 8 AM to 5 PM. More information, including how to sign up, in the flyer image.

Free caterer food will also be provided!

$480K IN FEDERAL FUNDS. Today U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna presented a $480,000 federal funding check to the St. Petersburg Police Department to fund the purchase of new police vehicles. On behalf of Sun Coast PBA and every law enforcement officer who serves the City of St. Petersburg, thank you to Congresswoman Luna for her work to secure these funds. She heard the PBA and PD leadership and City leadership and she got this done.

Equally, thank you to Mayor Welch for his work to secure these funds. May Welch is a Mayor who truly listens to his PBA and to the law enforcement officers we represent. When we say that we need something, he listens to us, and he works to get it done. Thank you, Mayor. Additionally, thank you to both Mayor Welch and to Congresswoman Luna for their willingness to work across the aisle to get us the tools we need to do our jobs well. Supporting law enforcement officers takes everyone. Crime does not care about party affiliation.

Quick quotes:

🚔 Mayor Welch: “Investing in public safety and supporting our officers continues to be a top priority for the City of St. Petersburg under my administration. The commitment we have made to public safety takes significant resources, and we’re incredibly grateful for Congresswoman Luna’s effort to secure $480,000 for new public safety vehicles for the St. Pete Police Department.”

🚔 Congresswoman Luna: “The men and women of the St. Petersburg Police Department show up every day to keep our community safe, and they deserve the resources they need to do their jobs well.”
