HOW DO YOU KNOW A FALSE PROPHET?
I John 4:1-6

• Is their consistent message (the message they're most known for) about Jesus Christ or some side issue?

• If so, is the Jesus they preach, the real Jesus? Is He the Son of God who was with the Father from the beginning (John 1), who has no beginning of days nor end of life (Heb 7:3), who created all that was created and is in fact the beginning of all that we know (Rev 22:13), the very Creator of the World?

It was this Jesus who came, lived, and died bearing sin. It was this Jesus who rose, and is now ascended to the right hand of the Father, and who is coming again to judge the living and the dead.

Those who are truly of God have this as their resounding message, and they will be known for it.

True Light vs. False Light

"The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world...He came to his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" - John 1:9-12

The True Light came as a man with a Name and died on a Cross to pay for our sin. All who believe on that Name are pardoned & given the right to be children of God.
There is a False light in this world too. It has has many names and you may believe on whichever of them you prefer. In doing so, you do not become a child of God: Instead of leading you to God, it will lead you to destruction. When you get there, you will know that you were deceived by choice. You chose to reject the True Light, bc it would not cleanse your sin without first revealing it. You didn't want the light exposing your sinfulness, so you found what you thought was a better deal, but it was just a lie - a lie that made it easier to continue in the darkness.
