January 26th, the Department of Education is scheduled to provide clarity regarding Schools of Hope if requested. This is one of many topics I’ve been working on as an individual school board member in collaboration with other organizations and within our district.

The chaos this has caused is unfortunate. Thank you to all who have advocated to support and improve public schools.

Rooted in Culture — Forward with Power and Precision

As we welcome a new year, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every member, partner, and community advocate who continues to stand with the NAACP Florida State Conference. Our strength has always come from our shared history, our cultural legacy, and our unwavering commitment to justice.

This year, we move forward with renewed purpose — grounded in the wisdom of those who came before us and propelled by the urgency of the work still ahead. Being rooted in culture means honoring our identity, our resilience, and our collective story. Moving forward with power and precision means acting boldly, strategically, and unapologetically in pursuit of equity for all.

In 2026, we will continue to protect civil rights, expand voter engagement, strengthen our communities, and uplift the next generation of leaders. Together, we will meet challenges with clarity, confront injustice with courage, and build progress with intention.

May this new year bring you strength, peace, and a renewed commitment to the mission that binds us. Our path is clear, our purpose is strong, and our future is bright.

Forward together — rooted, powerful, and precise.

Donald Hart Sr.,

NAACP Florida State
Conference President
