Rotary Club of Clearwater East

Rotary Club of Clearwater East Official Club Website The Rotary Club of Clearwater East is a service organization involved in local and worldwide projects.

Visit the Rotary International website at www.rotary.org to learn about all of the Rotary service projects. Our current project is “Reading Rocks”, a combination personalized classroom and book distribution program from the Rotary Club of Clearwater East Foundation. Small classes with individualized instruction will be held for 2nd graders who need to improve their reading skills. Also, small grou

p classes will be held for Adult, ESOL and Financial Literacy, with individual assistance for those who are enrolled. Class size is limited to 6 students and will be held on a regular schedule in three Mid-Pinellas neighborhoods: High Point, Coral Heights and Ridgecrest. Students will graduate to a new class as their skills improve. The Reading Rocks bookmobile shelves are filled with books, which will be distributed in the same neighborhoods at no charge. There are a variety of non-fiction subjects, including biographies, cookbooks, parenting, science, self-help, technology, arts & crafts and history. Fiction books range from popular series to romance, science fiction, sports, young adult, contemporary life and adventure. Future plans include “Story Hour” for younger children, voiced by storytellers of all ages. Sometimes, one of the books being read will be given away to each child after the event. The library will be expanded to include popular foreign language books. Reading Rocks is built upon the belief that when you can read, your world expands beyond your imagination. The love of reading can start at any age and is the gateway to knowledge.

We are switching things up! Instead of our lunch meeting on Tuesday, June 23rd, we are having a social/new officer installation at BJ's, Countryside Mall, starting at 4:30 pm.

Instead of a social on the fifth Tuesday, June 30th, we will have a service project day to organize and sort our book collection for Reading Rocks! We have a lot of books to put to good use somewhere else, so anyone with a larger vehicle please come out and transport for us.
