Courtney Campbell Causeway to close overnight May 18
Clearwater drivers should plan ahead for a full overnight closure of State Road 60, the Courtney Campbell Causeway, from 10 p.m. Monday, May 18, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, weather permitting.
All travel lanes will be closed during this time.
Drivers traveling west toward Clearwater and Pinellas County on State Road 60 should use State Road 580, Hillsborough Avenue, and U.S. 19 to reconnect with State Road 60 in Pinellas County. As an alternate route, drivers may take southbound Interstate 275 across the Howard Frankland Bridge, use Exit 31 to Ulmerton Road, turn right onto U.S. 19 and continue north toward State Road 60.
Drivers traveling east from Clearwater and Pinellas County on State Road 60 should use County Road 611, the Bayside Bridge, turn left onto Ulmerton Road, continue east and use the northbound I-275 entrance ramp to cross the Howard Frankland Bridge and access State Road 60 in Tampa.
Advance warning signs and message boards will be in place to help drivers navigate the area. Motorists should allow extra travel time, use caution in the work zone and watch for construction crews.
The temporary nighttime closure is needed so crews can complete overhead bridge work as part of the State Road 60 Courtney Campbell Causeway pedestrian overpass project in Pinellas County.
