Discolored Water in Parts of Southeast Clearwater
The city of Clearwater Public Utilities Department is aware that some customers may be experiencing temporarily discolored drinking water. The boundary area includes Logan Street (to the north), Hercules Avenue (to the west), Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard (to the south), and McMullen Booth (to the east).
A recent fluctuation in water flow within the distribution system caused naturally-occurring sediment that normally settles along the bottom of water mains to become disturbed. This sediment can temporarily cause the water to appear cloudy or discolored.
The water remains safe to drink and use for cooking and cleaning. The discoloration is related to natural sediment in the distribution system.
If you are experiencing discolored water, our crews recommend flushing the plumbing in your home by:
Running the cold water from an outside spigot, bathtub or other high-flow fixture.
Continue flushing until the water runs clear.
Avoid washing light-colored clothing while the water is discolored, as sediment may cause staining.
Once the water clears, normal water use can resume.
City crews are also flushing portions of the distribution system as needed to help clear the disturbed sediment and restore normal water clarity.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this temporary situation.

Election Day for City Council Seats 4 and 5 is Aug. 18, 2026.

06/18/2026

Beginning Tuesday, June 23, at ~ 6:00 a.m., customers served by the reclaimed water system east of US 19, from SR 580 to the Courtney Campbell Causeway, may experience a temporary reduction in reclaimed water pressure. This is due to repair work on the system, and we expect to be completed by that evening. Our normal watering hours are from 08pm-10am, so this may cause some service issues during our scheduled reclaimed watering times (from 06am-10am). This reduction is necessary while our crews perform repair work designed to enhance reclaimed water flow during drought conditions or other periods of high demand.
