In the news, this is BIG! Florida Suncoast Sierra Club, C**A St. Petersburg , St Petersburg Chamber and the City of St. Petersburg, Florida are working together to strengthen the proposed infrastructure referendum and address key community questions.
As Suncoast Sierra Club Chair James Scott said, *"We would like to get to yes. And we're working toward that."*
We all agree St. Petersburg must invest in its aging water and stormwater infrastructure. At the same time, planning for the future means building for the future—using solutions that will stand the test of time. That includes not only upgrading pipes, pumps, and facilities, but also incorporating nature-based solutions that help reduce flooding, improve resilience, and protect our community for generations to come.
We appreciate the city's willingness to engage in these conversations and look forward to continuing to work together to get this done—and get it done right.

A proposed Florida constitutional amendment will cost local governments an estimated $5 billion in lost property tax revenue during its first year, scaling up to nearly $12 billion annually within five years. Economists and tax analysts suggest this is less of a pure tax elimination and more of a tax shift

State economists offered projections on the proposal that will be on November ballots.
