No pictures today for the Young Aviators meeting today, the camera probably would have melted in the hangar anyways- definitely need to improve the airflow.

One item we’ve noted over the years is that new pilots often lack confidence on the radio, so we’re starting a lesson series aimed at filling this gap for when our kids start formal lessons in a few years.

They left with some homework this coming month to tune into LiveATC and start learning the phonetic alphabet. We want them to be comfortable talking on their first lesson.

This past weekend we continued our Young Aviators group. Didn’t get too many photos as we were all working on our project. The kids have taken raw steel pieces and fabricated it into a rotating pancake griddle we’ll use at our Young Eagles rallies that kick back up on September 19th. We have a little more work to do but the heavy lifting (quite literally!) is done. Next we’ll cut the cook top into a round shape and fit the motor, pulleys, and burners.

We always start out with the kids’ questions that our members help answer. Mechanical, avionics, aerodynamics, weather and career questions are the great topics they’ve come up with. Really proud of our small group of members and kids, it’s been fun seeing us come together over our first 7 months since we started the program.
